The Problem Gambling Foundation has called New Zealand Lotteries irresponsible after they launched an online version of the lottery. Players can now purchase tickets online in a bid by the commission to attract the attention of more gamblers.

The commission says that My Lotto is a safe and secure channel for infrequent players to use but critics don't agree. Critics of the new online lotto say that they are purposely trying to target a vulnerable gambling community.

In response to those concerns the New Zealand Lotteries have put spending caps in place to help minimize the risk of problem gambling.
