Baltimore Woman Takes Extra Precautions When Claiming Winning Lottery Ticket
Winning a large lottery can be an exciting and thrilling time. But for most people it can also be scary. People can try to take advantage of you and the thought of someone stealing your winning lottery ticket can be very unnerving. One woman, who recently won the Baltimore lottery, decided to take extra precautions when claiming her winning ticket. A forty nine year old Baltimore woman just learned that she won the $24 million jackpot drawing last week. The woman wanted to remain anonymous and actually found out she had won on her birthday. The woman, along with her daughter decided to buy a locked safe and place the ticket inside. They then brought the locked safe to the state lottery office to claim the prize.
The woman had bought her ticket at Carroll Station, a bar/restaurant. She first bought five $1 quick pick tickets while letting the machine choose her numbers. She then decided to buy another round of tickets, and it was that group that held the winning ticket. In a press release the woman stated that after hearing the winning ticket was sold at Carroll Station, she stated “I just knew it was me.”
The woman decided to take the $15 million cash payout option where she will receive a little more than $10 million after taxes. A spokeswoman for the lottery stated that the woman is “thrilled”. The woman has said she plans to build a house and purchase a 2009 Lexus Truck. The store owner should receive $25,000 since the winning ticket came from there.
