Belgian Man Gives Away Half of His Lottery Winnings to Help Those Less Fortunate
As the holiday season is in full force many people step up to the plate and show what kindness is all about. Whether it be a simple gesture of a home cooked meal or helping someone who is down on their luck it seems there are still honest good people in the world. One Belgian man from a Flemish town near the Dutch border is showing the locals that miracles do happen. The man, who remains anonymous won 7.million Euros in the Euro millions lottery on December 12th has decided to give away half of his winnings to help the needy in his town. The man told the manager of the establishment where he bought the ticket that he had felt the cold during the winter and he wanted to help people with that problem.
The first thing the man, nicknamed Father Christmas by many, decided to do is give checks to one hundred local families worth 1,000 liters (264 gallons) of fuel. This will certainly help those who cannot heat their homes this winter stay warm.
No one knows who the local man is but one woman, a local florist named Sissi Bours, commented that: “Everybody is asking who he is. Everybody has an idea. We all think it is a man in his 50’s with two children. Everyone is speculating.”
Whoever the man is, everyone knows that he is a wonderful person helping those in need, when he could have kept his money. He truly is Father Christmas.
