Family Fighting After $3.5 Million Lottery Win
An eighty one year old man from Canada is claiming that his fifty nine year old wife stole his winning lottery ticket and had her daughter cash in the ticket. The man then claims his wife filed for a divorce. The winning ticket was worth $3.5 million.Gerald Moore claims his wife Patricia Moore also was tampering with his blood pressure and heart medication. He claims this left him “physically, emotionally and psychologically incapable of appreciating the nature and consequences of the events.” This is according to the civil suit filed in the Superior Court. The OPP and Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission are investigating the claim but no charges have been filed and the lawsuit has not gone to court.
Bobbie-Jo Arnold, Patricia’s daughter from a former marriage, cashed in the ticket for the winnings. When Arnold claimed the ticket, the win was highly publicized. Gerald then claims that his wife must have stolen the ticket he purchased from the nightstand in the bedroom. Gerald stated that he had not signed his name to the ticket.
Patricia has not filed any documents stating her innocence but in an interview at her home she claimed she was not guilty. She stated: “I didn’t do anything wrong, my hand to almighty God. I am going to countersue. This is character assassination.”
Patricia claims that she took a bus to a Snack Express and bought one quick pick and three Encores, all on the same ticket. She then took another bus to her daughter’s home to deliver the ticket. Her daughter then gave her five dollars to pay for the price of the ticket. Patricia said she plays the lottery regularly and usually buys her daughter tickets at the same time.
