Georgia Woman Wins Half a Million in Lottery
Rhonda Reid of Macon, Georgia made it a habit to buy lottery tickets. Every few weeks she would purchase lottery tickets from a local gas station. Her habit finally paid off as week, as Reid won $500,000 from a Player’s Club game ticket. Reid bought the ticket from a Food Mart and when she scratched it off to see if she won anything she was shocked to find she had won the top prize. Reid kept saying “Is it real?” and she just looked at the ticket in disbelief.
Reid said her win really didn’t sink in until she was at the Georgia Lottery Office in Atlanta and her win was confirmed. Reid said she never really thought she would win a grand prize. She said: “My family plays it a little more than I do. I couldn't believe it. It didn't sink in until the girl in Atlanta validated it."
Even though Reid won the large amount of money she does not plan on leaving her job. Reid has worked at Geico as an insurance counselor for twenty seven years. She says she will use the money to take care of her family. Reid and her siblings have been caring for their parents, who are in their 80s, so the money will be very helpful.
Reid also has been caring for her niece’s children. Reid’s niece died of Lupus about a year ago and the money will also be used to care for the children. “Now I'll be able to take care of them, along with everyone else," Reid said. "My sister, two brothers and I have been praying for something."
It seems that a really nice and giving person has won the half a million dollars and the winnings will be put to great use.
