New Game Created After Lottery Winner Remains a Mystery
Last week the Powerball Lottery was won for $144 million. The ticket was sold in the Washington D.C area, yet no winner has come forward. The Powerball multi-state game win was the largest win ever in the D.C. Lottery history. Since it has been a week and no one has claimed the prize, Washington residents are talking nonstop about who could be the winner.

This has prompted the D.C. Lottery to create a new online contest called “Guess the Winner”. The D.C. Lottery website posted the new contest and asks people to pick who they think won the large prize. Was it a regular player, a new player or many other choices?

Lottery officials announced the winner last Wednesday night and on Thursday morning they went down to the grocery store where the ticket was sold. Officials wanted to meet the winner and brought a banner with balloons and a camera to congratulate the winner. The officials waited and waited but no one showed up.

Athena Hernandez a spokeswoman for the D.C. lottery commented: “We’re all on pins and needles for the winner to come forward. So this keeps up the enthusiasm for the game, keeps the public involved with this win.”
