New York state lottery officials have announced the recent winner of the Mega Millions jackpot. The winner was a 52 year old woman from Merrick and she remains anonymous until the lottery holds a press conference. The woman won $22 million after buying a ticket at the 7-Eleven in North Bellmore.

The owner of the 7-Eleven received a phone call from the Lottery saying that the winning ticket had been purchased at his store. He was very excited stating that it was a big jump from the biggest winner they had ever had who won just $5,000.

The owner Stephen Hirschheimer also commented that he hopes a regular customer won the large jackpot. His store is on a main road and they get a lot of neighborhood people coming through on a regular basis so he is hoping the winner is someone they know that could really use the money.

Whoever it is should be very happy as the money is sure to come in very handy. With the tough economic times currently as well as in the near future any extra funds that come a person’s way are more than welcome.
