Well punters around the country will soon be able to buy their lotto tickets online. Lotteries Commission Corporate Communications manager Karen Jones says that they have been "signalling the move for sometime, but were unable to confirm a launch date.

Ms. Jones says that customers could soon purchase their Sunday Lotto, Big Wednesday and Daily Keno tickets online "before the end of the year".

However for those players that like the Instant Kiwi Scratchies you will still have to make your way to a convenience store or to an authorized vendor.

The security of the online transactions are "paramount and the commission is "working with the regulators" to make sure that customers can be sure that their transactions will be handled safely.

At this time there hasn't been confirmation as to whether customers will be able to buy tickets with their credit card or if they will have to set up an account.
