Barrie Edwards and his family have won a staggering amount of money, $42.5 million to be exact. Edwards is from Middletown, Pennsylvania and purchased two Pennsylvania Lottery Match 6 tickets. With those two tickets, came a promotional ticket for free. Edwards did not win the large lottery prize with the tickets he purchased, but with the free ticket. After winning, Edwards and his wife decided to share the prize with their family.

The Lottery Executive Director, Ed Trees and Secretary of Revenue, Tom Wolf, presented a check for $42,529,765.37 to Edwards, his wife and twelve members of their family. The winning ticket matched all the five white balls, 02-05-28-33-54 and the red Powerball number 30. The amount won by Edwards is the 10th largest prize awarded by the Pennsylvania Lottery.

Edwards stated that he watched the Powerball on Television to see if he might have won and when he did he immediately woke his wife who had earlier gone to bed. Edwards then called his brother and sister-in-law to share the news. Edwards and his brother had been buying Lottery tickets for many years now and had always said they would share with each other, no matter who won. They also decided to share the money with other family members. After consulting with a lawyer and financial counsel, Jean Edwards, Barrie Edwards wife, went to Lottery Headquarters and turned in the winning ticket. After examination, the Lottery officials confirmed the ticket was a winner.
