Many people buy lottery tickets on a daily basis. When the ticket holders check their tickets and find it not to be a winner they most likely throw their ticket away. Well imagine if you threw your ticket away because you thought you had lost but in reality the ticket was a winner. That would be devastating to any person. But for one lucky couple who threw away a winning ticket they would have their ticket returned to them.

Raymond and Rachel Orr checked their purchased ticket and found it to be a dud so they threw it in the garbage. Over two months later a postmistress in Rathmullan found the ticket and checked it to see if it was a winner. She found that it was and it was worth 25,000 Euros.

The couple was so happy that the ticket was returned to them and Rachel commented that the move by the postmistress rekindled their faith in human nature. She commented: “She could have pocketed that ticket and we would have been none the wiser, absolutely none the wiser. Another person might have put it in their own back pocket, said nothing for a week or two, and gone and claimed it on the quiet. But she went to the bother of working out how much we had won, contacting us and giving us that ticket.”
