A couple from South Beloit are now a $100,000 dollars richer after they bought a new lottery ticket just for fun. Donna Kotch was taking her husband, Daniel to work last month when they decided to stop at the Quick N Save convenience store in South Beloit. Daniel is a casual lotto player and decided to grab a couple of tickets.

Daniel Kotch usually plays online games, like Mega Millions and Little Lotto so he opted to get a Diamond Dollars instant ticket. After he got back in the car he started to scratch off the ticket and he was in for the shock of a lifetime.


“At first, he thought he had a non winning ticket,” Donna Kotch said in a statement. “But when he scratched off the last number, he kept yelling, ‘I don’t believe it over and over.”

Can you believe that Donna still dropped off Daniel at work if I was Daniel I would have been calling in that day. But Daniel did go to work and Donna submitted the ticket to the Lottery Claims office after she dropped him off.

As to what they're going to do with their winnings, Donna said, We’ve always loved the outdoors, for years, we’ve been interested in more exciting activities, like whitewater rafting and even tornado chasing, but never got around to pursuing them. Winning the lottery has put us in the position where we can try things we’ve always wanted to do.”
