Gamblers in Texas have been very busy as of late. The Texas Lottery recently announced that the sales for the Mega Millions Lottery were so high on last Friday that they hit a new sales record. The $333 million jackpot sold $49.8 million for the entire roll cycle.

This cycle of sales was the highest sales of tickets for any game in the state of Texas. The cycle began on July 10th with $12 million in the jackpot and it ended with $325 million. Because sales were so good the lottery bumped up to $333 million.

Gary Grief, the Texas Lottery Commission Deputy Executive Director, commented: “this is the highest dollar value of sales for the Mega Millions jackpot roll cycle since Mega Millions sales began in Texas in December of 2003.”

The second highest sales of the lottery came in 2007 in the month of March. The sales were around $2 million less than the top number of sales. The jackpot advertised for the second highest sales was $370 Million.
