UK Lotto Commercial is Deeply Offensive to Land Based Bingo
The land based bingo industry is not doing well and are facing their worst crisis in many years. Now land based bingo has more to deal with there is a commercial for the National Lottery that they say is "deeply offensive". The commercial shows a little old woman who gets whisked away from an old locked up bingo hall to the beautiful beach. The United Kingdom's Bingo Association CEO Paul Taboys is not happy and his opinion of the commercial is that it is deeply offensive to an industry that is already fighting for their survival in the face of continued revenue losses, bingo hall closures and the new smoking ban.
The advertisement is for the National Lottery's Flamin' Hot Bingo Scratchcards and not for an actual bingo game. But the message is still there that playing in a bingo hall is blah while players getting Scratchcards are going to have a great time.
