Vermont Man Wins Large Lottery Prize
This past St. Patrick’s Day, one lucky Vermont man won a great deal of money after playing the Weekly Grand lottery. Norman Mattison bought his ticket at a Paulin store in town and found out he had won the large prize. The Weekly Grand is a new game to the Vermont lottery as it was just launched in February. Players choose four numbers from one to thirty five plus a Lucky Ball number between one and thirty five. Four numbers that match without the Lucky Ball win $5,000 but all matching numbers wins the whole pot.
Lottery officials say that Mattison has two options: he can take a onetime payment of $600,000 or a payment of $1,000 per week for twenty years. Mattison has not commented on his win yet so it is unclear which option he will choose.
Paulin’s, where the ticket was purchased, has had a big winner before. An employee commented that about four years ago a customer won $200,000 after playing the Powerball lottery.
